Prior to practicing construction law, John served 12 years in the U.S. Navy where he garnered a variety of medals and accolades for his distinguished, wartime service. John’s attention to detail and dedication to duty carried over from his 12 years of honorable service and are reflected on a daily basis by providing unparalleled dedication to his work and clients.

As a Board Certified “expert” in Construction Law and a member of the Florida Bar’s Construction Law Committee, John devotes his practice to construction development and construction litigation matters throughout Florida and the Southeast. John represents owners, contractors, design professionals, subcontractors and sureties in complex, multi-party transactions, litigation and arbitration. John has mediated, litigated and arbitrated various construction related matters, including construction defect claims, breach of contract claims, differing site conditions claims, delay claims, design defect claims as well as construction lien and private, state and federal payment and performance bond claims. Examples of matters John has handled include:

    • Represented general contractor’s $2.5 million unpaid contract balance claim, and defended contractor and surety against owner’s $10.5 million alleged defect performance bond claim;
    • Represented major subcontractor through jury trial in lien foreclosure and breach of contract claim;
    • Represented homeowners’ association against developer and general contractor in construction defect claim;
    • Represented general contractor and surety against subcontractor’s federal payment bond claim;
    • Represented, negotiated and drafted several multi-million dollar construction contracts for specialty residential and commercial contractors, both statewide and federal;
    • Represented contractor against County on performance bond default claim; and
    • Represented major subcontractor against general contractor for unpaid work, inefficiency, delay and extended overhead.
